First DuPage Bank was organized as a de novo Illinois state-chartered, FDIC-insured commercial bank that opened for business on June 28, 1999. The bank opened in temporary quarters at 220 N Cass Avenue. Richard Pearson, Joseph Shultz and Jeffery Voss were among the original organizers who saw a need for a community bank that would offer a local banking alternative to the large regional and national financial institutions that dominate the area.
Construction began in early 2000 on the current 18,000 square foot building at 520 N Cass Avenue. The bank moved into its new prairie style quarters in November 2000.
